2021-10-18I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant and is supposed to be happily preparing for my small wedding to get married this year with my husband-to-be. My husband-to-be and I discussed previously that we wanted a baby so whether it's before or after marriage, we're ok. My mother isn't happy when I spoke to her about how I'm now pregnant before marriage because she's someone who has very traditional mindset. She thinks that "we did something wrong" and that "we did not plan our pregnancy properly to be after marriage". I can understand why she's angry, but honestly, we don't think we did anything wrong by wanting a baby and me wanting to be pregnant. When my husband-to-be came over to speak to my mother about the marriage details, her attitude towards him was very bad and rude - she refused to look at him when speaking and was confronting him like a "criminal" until he mentioned that "we will be doing guo da li + a banquet" to appease her. She demanded for a lot of things which I don't think was necessary and I was appalled because before this visit, I actually told her I wanted a simple ROM only and no banquet, and she told me she was ok with it since it's now covid period and that it's "troublesome". I didn't speak up during this conversation to confront her because I know how defensive she will get and how it will make the whole conversation turn ugly - I admit this is my fault for not speaking up for my husband-to-be at that point of time. A day before the second visit, I told her in private that I really don't like all these traditional stuff and I just wanted a simple ROM, that's it. She got pissed off and we ended up in an argument - with her saying that she's "not asking for a lot already" and that I am "worried that my husband-to-be will have to spend a lot of money on the wedding". In my opinion - he paid for the downpayment of oue future house alone, I didn't fork out any money for it; he is taking care of me and takes time off to accompany me to gynae checks; he has a car loan to pay off; he has his own retired parents to take care of; and now we are having a baby on the way. And she's expecting him to fork out all the money himself for the wedding as well. The whole conversation didn't end off well in the end. The next day, my husband-to-be came over to visit and discuss on the wedding plans again. Again, my mother, with a black face, refused to look at him for the first 15mins until he said "Ok auntie, we will still do the GDL and banquet". I can tell that my husband-to-be was already unhappy but he was still sitting there patiently, trying to appease her. Again, I didn't speak up because I had an argument with her the day before and I knew things will turn ugly if I intervened that day - this was definitely a mistake that I made. After all these, my husband-to-be told me that he don't feel welcomed to the family at all, and asked me why I didn't stood up for him at all during the conversations. I told him I did, but I did it in separate occasions and it didn't end off well. He wishes to have an apology from my mother for being rude before we proceed with anything else. On the other hand, I don't trust that my mother will apologise willingly because she don't think that she's rude at all. I know he doesn't deserve all these treatments from my mother, but I feel really helpless now as to what I can do to make him feel better. I've been crying daily whenever I think of these issues and I feel really helpless because I'm in the middle. #advicepls #pleasehelp

2021-10-18I just had my first child and we don’t get any support / help from our parents (either working or already taking care of my sibling’s kids). I always wanted two kids but sometimes it can get really overwhelming when we have to juggle between work (WFH) and taking care of our child. We enrolled our child into IFC but hasn’t been going to school due to the spike in cases. We don’t have a strong need to get a helper as I will not want the helper to care for my baby. Just hope to get some advices / thoughts before making any decision.

2021-10-18mummies please help. im a first time mum & im currently 39 weeks & 3 days. my due date is in 4 days time. having a painful contraction every 3-5 mins non stop. went to the hospital but was told only 2cm dilated. given a choice to take injections of painkillers & get admitted or went home to wait & dilate more. i chose to go home but i can no longer stand the contractions pain & cant get any sleep with this contractions. is there any technique or tips i can relieve the contractions ? should i wait more or go back to the hospital ? help please im in pain ☹️

2021-10-18I have been using spectra S1 for 2 years and it was recommended by a mummy. It is gentle, have auction and massage levels to choose from. I love the night light which I can pump easily without switching on the room light for pumping. The cons is that it is big and bulky. I tried other brands of breast pump but still prefers using spectra. Bought spectra M1 and S9+ too so I can bring out or use it at work.

2021-10-19My coming 5 week old baby loves to nap in his baby Bjorn rocker. He doesnt fall into deep sleep in the afternoon so once you carry him to the cot he wakes up and cries bloody murder. I know it’s not ideal for him to nap in his rocker but it doesn’t seem like we have any other alternative. Carrying also doesn’t help all the time. 2021-10-20Im 38w 1d preg with my 1st child now. Staying with my husb & MIL at her house located in Yishun. MILis now processing her divorce w my FIL.. est to get everything settled by eoy.. MIL now is taking care of my SIL's 2 kids age 9 & 11 yrs old.. They are staying at Sembawang & is now WFH.. but my MIL still insist on taking care of them.. but problem is, she never asked her daughter (my SIL) for money to pay her kids' expenses.. all of it is being paid by my husband. My FIL is basically a free loader and good for nothing.. so i am not happy about it because 1stly, my MIL and her grandkids are very wasteful kind of people. They alw leave th electricity/current on even after not using them. 2ndly, my MIL will buy snacks or foods and drinks for them, and we're not allowed to eat it (even my husb). My husb have to ask for permission before eating it, eventho technically he paid for it.. 3rdly, my MIL will cook dishes for her grandkids to bring home leaving me & husb with little food left to eat.. And whats worst, my MIL will always complain to her siblings and mother and relatives and to me sometimes, saying that my husband is very selfish when it comes to money! Excuse me?! My husband practically takes care of all the bills & expenses in this house.. it's her daughter that is selfish but she didnt see that.. she said she sympathize with her daughter because she is a single mom.. but then what about me & husband? She doesnt sympathize with us at all.. me with being a SAHM, having a baby otw, getting our place soon (after her divorce is settled), renovations & furnitures all.. she doesnt seem to think about that all.. B4 i gotten pregnant, she already warned me earlier on saying that when i got pregnant & give birth alrdy, she will not take care of me during my confinement period as she is alrdy old & not strong anymore.. she said to stay with my mom and let my mom handle me.. and once i start work already, my baby to be sent to my parents place also. She dont want to take care of babies anymore. When she was telling me all this, i was like shock.. because, i didnt even have the thought of her taking care of me and my baby at all.. i have already discuss with my mom about all this before i even got married that she will take care of me & baby.. idk but the way my MIL spoke to me about this is as though i am a burden & wanna draw the line.. lol.. And like i said, im staying with her now in Yishun.. my parents place is in tampines.. my husband is working at tampines.. my work industry is located in changi. So we're definitely going to buy a house at tampines because it is very convenient for us, obviously.. BUT, now my MIL disagree with our plan. She wants us to buy house at Sembawang or Yishun so she can continue taking care of her 2 grandkids.. when i tell her no and asked her to move in with her daughter then if that is the case, she gave her stupid excuses which is, my SIL place is 3room BTO flat, very small so not comfy enough for her. So she wants me and husband to get a resale at Sembawang or Yishun so she can be at her comfort zone. Big spacious house & get to be with her grandkids.. so her grandkids can come over to my place and she can continue taking care of them whilst my SIL is working from home at her house in Sembawang.. I truly dont understand her logic in this matter.. When i give her my reason saying that i will be working at changi, how can she expect me to take bus to and fro with baby everyday from north to east; and i will have to wake up super early; the journey; baby is not going to be comfortable in the bus for long period of time twice daily & all these would be way even more troublesome if it rains.. She just look at me and repeat her dumbass excuses, "But i pity my 2 grandkids.. nobody take care of them when their mom is WFH." She clearly only thinks of herself, her daughter and her 2 grandkids. She not making it subtle at all. As though the baby in my stomach is not her grandchild also. I keep asking her to move in with her daughter, she will keep saying that the house so small not comfy and shes not used to it.. And now i just found out not only that, she plans to bring all her old antique furnitures to move into my house because she feel "sayang" to throw or sell her furnitures away.. i have repeatedly tell her no no no no no.. she will keep quiet and try to guilt trip me saying that she wants to stay in old folks home since nobody cares for her anymore. Manipulative! But i still stand firm and my ans is no. And she disregard my decision and say to me, "Later after confinement period, u come back here and we discuss again." I still said no. She replied, "Nvm, we'll talk about it later." I tried telling my husband about this. He doesnt seem to agree with his mom also and he seem quite angry about it.. but he also seemed like he was angry at me because i was complaining about his mother.. i really dont know what else to do.. my MIL is very control queen and selfish and thinks of her own convenience and biased.. i am feeling quite resentful towards her now.. and ive been crying at night thinking about this.. esp in my final weeks, i know its not good for baby.. but i cant help it.. ive always wanted a house on my own with my husband and baby.. where i can have privacy and decorate my house following my style, cook my dishes (she doesnt eat or let her grandkids eat my cooking.. she will cook different dish for herself and her grandkids) but now i feel like my MIL is trying to snatch all that way from me.. sometimes i just feel like separating with my husband.. since he doesnt like me complaining about his mom to him.. then to who can i complain? So i am just swallowing all this by myself..

Doc say either too early, ectopic or sign of miscarriage Did a blood test at 6pm on 14/10 - 523 Another blood test at 8am on 17/10 - 1460 Which is doubling every 18hrs after I checked. I also have no bleeding, no severe pain nor cramping Doc said doubling is a good sign & I'm scheduled for another scan on 25/10. I'm really nervous however I do feel positive.. Afterall they said mummy's instincts! I do feel there's nothing wrong with my body but I can't help to worry.

In the meantime I was advised to go through Clinic G for my antenatal visits while waiting to see her. Can anyone advise on 1. How long before I get an appointment at Clinic G? It's been 3 working days since I went to the polyclinic for referral. Should I call to check? 2. I understand that some mums call in to check if there are last min cancellations to try to get an earlier appointment. Can I do that too w the WOMEN'S Clinic? 3. Has anyone tried going for the first appointment with any gynae at Women's Clinic (private) for the dating scan and then reverted to the given Clinic G appt (assuming it's quite late) I would like to have an appointment at week 7 but I heard that the first appointment can be as late as Week 10. 3. 2021-10-21Hi mummies, in need of help. Really want to train my boy to sleep on the bed instead of yaolan. I am planning to send him to playgroup once 18 months & I'm pretty sure they don't yaolan them to sleep. My boy has been using the yaolan since 9 months till now almost 13 months. Previously we used tula to carry him to sleep then put down once asleep. He used to go IFC when 4 months but kept falling sick (i know its normal) so MIL insisted she takecare of him instead. So we withdrew him. Afterwhich, as both hubby and I return to work, she didn't want to struggle with putting him to sleep so she used tula. But again insisted we buy yaolan because her back started to ache. Please help :( Thank you!

My infant is 8m10d old and I want to transition him from cereal to porridge but he gagged and sometimes threw up. 2021-10-22When i was pregnant, living with mil wasn’t that hard even though it was also not easy. My mil is obsessively superstitious to a point she will “go temple and ask God” about everything including why baby is not pooping more than once or breathing heavily. Everyday she has something to nag and always hosting pity party. She will call friends and relatives to talk about me (like I don’t eat alot) .. all the small stuffs but it does not make me feel comfortable. However, I do not have a place to go with baby so I’m just trying to see if anyone is going through such situation or poor relationship/conflicts with mil and how you all manage it?

2021-10-22I'm currently giving my coming 4mo Aptamil stage 1 since birth ( followed what the hospital gave her). I stopped breastfeeding after 1 month and she has been on the same milk powder since she was born. Recently she has been very gassy and spitting up quite a bit of milk after burping after every feed. She is a milk spitter and gassy baby since she was born but recently the amount she spits is much more and frequency became every feed, her gas can be so bad that her tummy looks hugee as well. (I do rub ruyi oil and give tummy massages but doesnt really help) I'm wondering if it has got to do with the milk powder? Any other mums or dads notice your baby is more gassy while taking Aptamil? Any other formula to recommend for gassy babies? First time mum here and would love to hear advices and experience from other parents! Thank you in advance!! :) cheers!

2021-10-22Last year our teen mentioned she has friends who self harm and has mental health issues. This year, our teen is also one. We are shocked, saddened and a lot of other emotions when we accidentally found out, using a ruler or ballpoint to inflict. She does this whenever she gets scolded and punished/grounded… which becomes more frequent lately with the sudden change in her attitude and outlook in life. As far as we’re aware, we have provided her everything she needs so we really don’t know where we could have gone wrong. The scolding is to instill discipline and correct the wrongdoings. Any reasonable pyschiatrist to recommend? Can the form teacher or school counsellor help or speak to us? We know she’s running for leadership role so we’re worried if speaking to them could harm her chances to become a school leader…

2021-10-23Hi my baby is 7 months now , hes not been sleeping through the night he keeps waking every 2 hrs i give him milk at 2am then again he wakes up at 430am-5am lip smacking but hes not hungry. Is this a development thing , teething ? Or what i have barely slept last 1 month. He normally has dinner and full milk before sleeping.

2021-10-23Tried eating small /frequent meals still vomit like merlion. Nothing stays in stomach, not even biscuits or milo. Seriously felt so weak and tired to even eat cos few mins later will out again. My throat cant absorb anything, nothibg suits. Not even water with fruits infused. Basically i hate eating and drinking. So when i dont drink water or eat fruits, naturally hard to pass motion cos hard and dry. Soooo stress. Each time want to pass motion always a torture. And sore til bleeds cos too dry. In my 11th week, and kid you not it doesnt get better. At all......... ppl says 12 weeks onwards gets better, in this case. I doubt itll be that fast for me to be a human again. Sighhh. Sometimes crying my hearts out relieves the tension and help to fall asleep naturally. But doesnt cure the problem. 2021-10-23Anyone feel unworthy of living on this earth? I feel like no matter how much I try, it’s never never never enough. Ever since the birth of my son, I have always been labeled as a bad mother. I have no where to escape to. My parents are always constantly shouting and scolding me. For I am the only one who is staying at home. None of my siblings stay at home. I feel so trapped. I don’t know what to do. They are always losing their temper and whatever I do is always on their nerve. I really wish I wasn’t born. Why must they always do this to me? I have stopped calling or talking to them and just stay cooped up in my room the whole day. My spouse always ask me to control and tolerate. How long must I have this stress inside of me? I can’t take it anymore
