2021-01-11LO is 18mths old . From young , ive been refraining her from screen time , be it television cartoon or youtube for kids. I do not want my child to be dependent as i think this is not needed .i do not want my child to end up needing to watch video when traveling , eating their meals and etc . Right now she is doing fine without too . From time to time , will open educational song and rythmes for her to hear. She attends playgroup too . I do not want to introduce all these to her as i feel tht she is too young and i know this might cause behavaral problem . But for my husband and inlaw and others , back then when living with them , they will put her infront of the tv beside them as young as 4months old . Im not comfortable with this. Now my kids is 18mth old , i would rather want them to spent proper time with her like playing than to put her beside to watch tv or youtube to her . Like , if u want to watch ur television , u can hand over my kid back to me not distract and make her watch tv with u when she want to play . My husband is thinking im overreacting with this screen time and thibk its okay for her . Am i wrong ? Every mom wants the best for their child . #advicepls #firstbaby #1stimemom

2021-01-11My in laws are very traditional (extended family too) about giving birth to a boy. My firstborn is a girl, and although they love her a lot, I know that they still yearn for a boy, and I find there’s nth wrong with that. Now that I’m pregnant, when I went for my 8th and 12th week checkup, my in laws keep asking, when will know the gender? Can the dr check the gender yet? They even went to the extent of questioning my firstborn (want didi or meimei), and forcing her to say didi till she was so frustrated, tries to ignore when they ask, giving both answers didi/mei mei at different occasions and keeps crying when they insist she has to say didi. The relatives are the kind that go “it’s ok you can try again for a boy” when I was pregnant with my girl. So the whole vibes are always boys better than girls, must give birth to a boy. I am so stressed as I am nearing to my 16th week checkup, which may have a slight chance to know the gender soon. For me, gender doesn’t matter but it’s really annoying to keep hearing these comments. Sometimes I really pray to give birth to a boy so that I can finally shut all their mouths because it’s just so irritating, and so that I can have my third or more children with a peace of mind. I keep telling my in laws that a healthy baby is most important, they will say yes yes, but still saying and giving non constructive comments. So stressed with everything already. What should I do...

2021-01-11Anyone having the same issue? Any idea whether it had anything to do with "fish oil" supplements? I do not have this issue with my 4 other pregnancies. It smells like wet used mat/towel, not properly aired. Ps: that's the only way I could describe as I noticed the same kind of smell on my son's towel when not properly hang/aired or the toilet mat when my hubby wet it while rinsing the floor and left overnight. Underarm only smells great for a short while after showering. Then the bad smell will appear even without sweating. So annoying!!!

Im in my second week of confinement and I still feel cramp and sore at my lower abdomen. I believe that I'm still recovering and recuperating. Any of u had miscarriage and how long did u take to heal totally? The walk to hospital and mrt ride makes me lethargic and the lower abdomen feels sore after such walk. I still feel ive yet to recover and that makes me worried coz my HL is ending. I had post natal massage for 3 days. Im having confinement food. I put on socks and had warm shower. I shower once a day. I don't take cold drinks. Anything else i can do to help me heal? Appreciate your responses. Thank u.

2021-01-13I had brown discharge and some bright red discharge on the day I was supposed to have my menstruation on 11th Jan (30th day). Thinking it was the start of my period, I put on pads. However, after 2 days, there were only streaks of brown spotting. From what I searched, implantation bleeding appears to be brown and light pink which mine was brown and red. Could I be pregnant? 2021-01-13My LO tends to sleep more.. And for long hours during night from 10pm to morning 6am. However. I tend to feed him once in the middle. He drinks all. But when comes to next morning feed he will left like 50 to 70ml... And then the following feed after 4 hours... He tends to leftover 20ml etc. But he totally looks fine.. I am not sure because my mil taking care of him.. He didnt use to be like this before i start work. His interval was every 3 hours... 120ml which was okay. But the whole timing is in a mess and intake dropping. However his weight is 6.8kg though.

2021-01-13My 6month old babygirl has been pooping quite frequently lately. Currently mix-feed; direct latch at home and formula milk in infant care. Her doctor at NUH said it’s normal (showed him pictures) but another PD said it’s diarrhoea. She has a tendency of pooping after every feeding or in the middle of feed in IFC. We’ve changed from Enfamil to Isomil but both resulted in the same (poop after feed). Trying Similac Total Comfort now. Any mummies can confirm if this is diarrhoea? Her teachers are concern that it’s not pasty as she has began to start on Cerelac rice. She’s still active as usual though so I’m totally at a lost... kept receiving calls from her teacher while I’m at work and had to bring her back in the middle of the day.

2021-01-14My baby is 18mths, has been fully breastfed (no mixed feed) since birth. She does drink some fresh milk during the day but as a drink not to replace breastfeeding. Doesn’t sttn yet, so she wants to be breastfed through the night several times (mostly comfort latch). Want to gradually wean her off due to my pregnancy (very tiring as I have to keep waking up, and also get cramps at times when she suckle). Things I’ve tried: 1) ignoring when she asks for milk, but she will keep waking me up and chant milk non stop (we co sleep) 2) giving uht/fm in milk bottle (rejects and points to my breast and says milk) 3) pacifier as mostly want to comfort latch (either sucks for a few times then reject, or totally tell me no and throws it away, then asking for milk again) 4) giving water (sometimes rejects and says milk, otherwise drinks quite a bit of water and then ask for milk right after) Have been suggested to put bitter gourd etc on the boob, but feel it’s quite cruel to do this to my baby. Any other advices please?

2021-01-14Hi mommies! Have you ever feel scared that your child does not bond well with you as compared to other relatives/caregivers? I am training my son to be independent and not spoiled but when I do, relatives will tend to swoop in to coax my child if he cries (after diaper change and feedings. He needs sleep so they will carry to put him to sleep on their chest but they didn’t put him down. So they bond more with him for hours he is sleeping with the touch and smell. I am not sure if prolong bond with other female relatives will make him think she’s his mom and not me, like confused who is his mother due to the excessive bonding and pampering. I won’t mind if others treat and love him well as long he knows that I’m his mother. I want to feel special because i deserve it after going through pregnancy and labor.

2021-01-15This is my first pregnancy. I came for the first scan when I was 8 weeks and the doc mentioned that they couldn't detect anything as it was too small. 2 weeks later I came for the scan again, and the doc seemed confident to say that this pregnancy will be failure due to an empty sac with no visible embryo. The gestational sac shape is also abnormal. I bought a cheap doppler to check for any heartbeat, it is relatively on the low side between 70+ to 90+ BPM which is unusual for a 10 weeks fetus. It was very confusing how I could able to detect a little heartbeat but the sonographer/doc are unable to detect any embryo. Does anyone experiencing anything similar to mine?
