2021-05-24Hi mummies, I am first time mom-to-be and recently diagnosed with GDM by my gynae. For that one month before taking the glucose test, I've changed my diet to more lean proteins and fresh veggies (but with a cheat day once a week/or every 2 weeks - just burger/spring chicken/ less sugar milk tea without pearls), however I did not do any exercise as I am constantly fatigue with nausea and vomitting. Before pregnant, I always go for health screening annually and my glucose level was good. 1) I would like to ask, even with a thorough healthy diet and proper exercise regime (at least 30 mins a day), will I get rid of GDM? 2) Could GDM be genetics? My maternal family have history of GDM (grandma, mum and aunties) and they have to inject insulin daily during their pregnancy days and sadly, they become diabetic even after giving birth. If I control my GDM now, will I become diabetic even after giving birth? 3) I feel bad passing this risks to my baby, will my baby get diabetes as well? Is there any mama who have defeated GDM and deliver a healthy baby? 4) My maternity insurance is not finalised as the underwriters keep questioning my cysts which I declared previously. However, it was accepted recently (before my GDM diagnosis), but they have not generate the policy contract for me to sign and I have declared that I have GDM to my agent... what are the chances of me being insured under GE maternity insurance? Or are there any maternity insurance able to insured mama with GDM risks? #advicepls #pleasehelp #firstbaby

2021-05-24Hi Mummies , I am popping out soon, 3 June. But the past 1 week, I have been feeling cramp (unsure if the feeling is cramp like) / abdominal pain. Past few times I went to A&E and was told it was just muscle ligaments. But this few days , the pain around my pelvic area is more intense, and seems it comes every 10mins. Is it contractions? It's my third month and I get cramping pain from upper stomach to vagina at one stroke on left side. Though it occurs occasionally, the pain is intense. I would like to ask if it is normal to keep hearing cracking sound coming from baby body when we carry/ holding them up from the position of carrying them by holding their underarm. Sometimes taking a nap help, sometimes it doesn't. Right now it hurts to the extent I can't fall asleep. Anything else that can help besides paracetamol? #advicepls

2021-05-24Hi mummies, can you share with me (in English), if you experienced spotting in early pregnancy and what medication you were given to help support the pregnancy? I suffered a miscarriage earlier this year, with Gynae A refusing to supplement my progesterone pills with any injections (I was prescribed Utrogestan 2-3 times a day by him. Kept insisting jabs are not necessary. I lost the baby 1-2 weeks later. Now, I’m pregnant again and facing the exact same problem. Spotting at week 5+. Went for emergency appointment with Gynae B who is closest to my home. Also insisted on solely putting me AGAIN on Utrogestan only once a day. When I asked about Duphaston and jabs, he looked at me, laughed and said “it just helps psychologically. not medically. If you are meant to lose the baby, you are meant to lose the baby. No amount of injections will make a difference.” WHAT????? I have read countless of forums, groups and communities of ladies sharing similar experiences but 95% share that they have been prescribed a 3-4 times a day dose of progesterone AND jabs to help support the pregnancy so how can it be it’s just for “psychological purposes”???? I really don’t understand how I can be so unlucky to encounter 2 such doctors in a row! Or are they absolutely right?

2021-05-24I just had a miscarriage on my supposedly 8.5 weeks. 1st appointment and ultra-scanned was at 7.5 weeks and fetus was measured to be at 5.5 weeks instead. I highly do recommend mom-to-be especially 1st time mom to set an appointment with a gynae as soon as you find out that you’re pregnant. I was late as i assumed mine would be normal and made appointment for week 8 as we wanted to hear baby heartbeat at first ultrasound (knew my pregnancy since week 4) Day 1 of bleeding (week 7) - I started with brown bleeding and thought everything was ok as it was light. Friends too assured me saying it was ‘norm’. Went A&E KKH and somehow the bleeding stopped by itself for that night. Doctor did NOT prescribed me with any medication saying its ‘normal’ and that taking folic acid was enough. The bleeding (brownish) continued the next day and was light for the next 6 days. Day 2 - still brown light bleeding Day 6 - 1st day of supposed appointment at week 7.5. Gynae measured foetus and said there was no heart beat. She said based on the measurement the baby was at 5.5 weeks instead of 7.5. Gynae said either baby was still small or baby just stopped growing at week 5.5 (as my menses was regular). Gynae also mentioned “not to put my hopes too high” as i mentioned the bleeding to her. But being a 1st time mom, seeing the pregnancy sac and egg in the scan gave me a slight of hope. Day 7- first day of bleeding in red and with clots. I went back to A&E KKH and was still told “everything is fine”. This visit included ultrascan. Somehow I was not satisfied and went to my gynae the next day. Day 8- Gynae told me she highly suspected miscarriage. She mentioned my body is rejecting the pregnancy and true enough on that day I had very bad contraction. It was so painful till I cried. The physical pain empowered the mental pain 😢 I am lucky in a way that my husband has been there for me giving moral support. Day 9 - I bleed out chunks of blood clots and the egg yolk. It was super sad as i was able to see small spine and leg on the yolk. Day 10 - cramp started to feel alot lesser after the clots came out. Day 15 - another scan with gynae to ensure there is nothing left in the womb and started my post natal massage and confinement. If u do noticed any similar symptoms, please do not take it lightly. BLEEDING IN A PREGNANCY IS NOT NORMAL. Go to a trustworthy gynae and I strongly dont suggest KKH A&E as the doctors there are not experienced, well atleast not for my case. Sharing the above story hoping it will help in a way to some others out there. ❤️

2021-05-24Anyone else feeling low due to phase 2 heightened measures? Am in 3rd TM working full time at hospital and have a hyperactive toddler (18mth) who is now having separation anxiety and v v clingy. Husband is very low mood also due to WFH one year plus ever since covid. We haven't seen our family in Malaysia for more than 1 yr. I feel so tired everyday yet not enough rest. Now cant even dine out or meet our friends. Sigh..

Will I need: - Special c-sect high waisted underwear? Right now my underwear are all low-cut, not sure if will touch the wound. - Waterproof plasters for the wound? So that I can shower without water touching the wound? For binder, I think I will get from TMC after delivery so the nurses can measure and get me the right size. Mmm...am I missing anything out? 2021-05-25My 15 month old girl went for a sudden rejection of food. She would cover her mouth or shake her head if we spoonfeed her anything. She does self feeding of plain rice and salmon in micro portion and only wants to feed herself slowly by picking tiny bit of food to eat. She also eats biscuits and bread only. We offered veg and fruits to her for self feeding but she doesn’t even touch it. What can I do to help her eat more? She is not gaining weight for the last 1 month.

2021-05-26I ovulated on 3 May 2021 (Checked with the kit) and we did the deed. My expected period was supposed to be 18 May 2021 but up till today 26 May. Test was negative. And period is not here. Had spotting earlier this morning (Brownish and stretchy) so I’m not sure if it’s a sign of period coming or pregnancy. Do have increased appetite and weird craving with fatigue recently. Have been breastfeeding my #1 even up till now. So I can’t differentiate if my boobs are swelled and tender. Anyone have same experience and can advice if period or pregnancy? 2021-05-26NEED HELP!!! For the past 3 nights, it’s a nightmare for both my hubby & I. My LO had his 6-in-1 jab & rota on Monday, that night he felt super cranky, fever on off kind. First night, we had dinner at 8pm, he slept till 9+ than woke up for milk, played till 11pm, still not sleepy yet, and when we tried to swaddle him, he struggle & cried very loudly. Pampered for an hour so, still not feeling sleepy, placed him on play gym, after 10mins he became more cranky than before, diapers changed, I thought after crying he might felt sleepy, BUT WAY NO! HE CRIED EVEN LOUDER THAN BEFORE! Carried him till 2am+, am already half dead, cried alil during sleep.. The next morning & afternoon he still felt alil cranky, but still manageable, till night, it get started again, swaddle him to sleep but no, he struggled & cried for an hour+ 🤦🏻‍♀️ After all the drama, I pat him to sleep while carrying him! Placed him inside his baby cot he cry, carry also cry! 😔 Today also the same, I don’t know how long I can tahan, he can cry out super loudly, like my parents whom I’m staying together with thought what happen to bb, I gave up letting baby sleep in cot, decided to let him sleep on bouncer, hopefully I’ll be able tosleep well tonight, I’m so damn tired! I went to A&E doctor said, its normal to comeout that kinda discharge as long it doesn't acompany with cramping... Im 6 weekers btw... I insist to see gynae to scan my baby instead of going home empty handed. My gynae scanned there was no heart beat found in the screen and the baby is very small... She said its not normal to have that kinda discharge with no heart beat. Before she diagnose me as missed miscarriage, she said the scanning could be wrong or ppl can make wrong judgement, so she asked me to observe first and let it pass through naturally... But its already been a week and the discharge is not there anymore. Is it not coming out? Should i just wait? Is it healthy to keep dead bby inside us too long? #pleasehelp

2021-05-27Hi all, I had my 20th week detailed scan and gynae said I had high uterine artery resistance, meaning blood flow to placenta not good, alot of resistance. She started me on aspirin (blood thinner) and calcium supplements. Gynae also shared that baby could be premature, have low birth weight or stunted growth if continue to have high resistance. Anyone had similar experience? Was there anything that helped improve the blood circulation other than aspirin?

2021-05-27Hi mom! My baby now is 3 months 3 days. When she is 1 months old, her milk intake decrease. And it’s okay i reduce her milk from 90ml to 70-80ml. Then slowly i increase to 90-100ml. Then started 2 month, she lost her appetite. She keep rejecting and my fault i keep forcing. Then i stop to force, but until now she keep rejecting milk. I try to give by demand, but 5-6 hours still not cry for milk and i’m so stressed now :( Sometimes i know she is hungry, but when i offer milk, she will suck but just two to five sucks, she will stop and started to shake her head then cry. 2021-05-28Hi mummies ♥️ It’s my 8th week in, first pregnancy, and my nausea (which started gradually since Week 3 😔) is getting bad. I pretty much have aversion to all foods except porridge, and a constant bitter taste in the mouth from the puking. Nausea medication did not help as it stopped the puking but made me feel horribly drowsy the whole day, still with the nauseous feeling — actual puking feels a little better. ♥️ To add on, my body feels very warm even at night (measured 37°C despite usually only being 36.4°C — knowledge thanks to COVID constant temperature monitoring lol). About once/twice daily, I’ll feel so feverish, I have to lie down and try to sleep it off. 2021-05-29Hello, my baby girl is 6mths 25 days now and has been refusing milk since we changed to formula 2 (for 6 months baby onwards). We had to force feed her everytime and she will cry like crazy. Even so, she still did not finish. We always prepare 150ml and feed every 4 hours as recommended by doctor. Why you doing c-sect?" followed with their unsolicited expert opinions (e.g "Natural is better what", "Like that the next birth will be likely c-sect also leh"). It's not like I don't want a natural labour. It's not like I have a choice. It's not like I haven't cried many times when told during multiple gynae appts that my placenta is too low for a natural birth. And no, I do NOT want to just ignore them and their hurtful remarks. Ifeel like my hub is overfeeding my LO.thinking that he need milk to sleep. If he fail to sleep at first feed of 260ml he will top up another 100ml-120ml. Some time the 3rd round which i feel is too much for a young kid. My LO is capable for flipling and tossing around before falling aslp on this own on some days so i r eally dont see the need to feed and feed without a limit just to make him sleep.
