- 2020-02-10Is been coming to three months since I have give birth. I gained 30kg. Lost 10 and starting to get back into my workout rhythm. My husband is not really a hands-on father. Instead of learning how to feed our son or even carry him... I caught him looking/checking out half naked models on Instagram.. I’m so disappointed. I ruined my body to give him a son but he looks at other woman. Am I the only one going through this?

- 2020-02-10Hi, I've been watching Youtube on mothers' breastfeeding their baby, and came across a video of a mom breastfeeding her child which is a 6 years old girl.

I know breast milk is healthy, but what are your opinions on how old your baby should stop breastfeeding and must drink from a cup or bottle instead?

- 2020-02-10Daughter is 7 half mths now. And she’s very excited abt standing up by herself. I have concerns that children may have bow legs if they are exposed to standing for too long. I’ve already restricted her activity center time to 15mins a day in fear of this, she’s crawling in the play pen most of the time. Actually more often than not, she’s not crawling but standing by the side of the play pen. Do share with me your thoughts and how I shld handle this. Thanks.

- 2020-02-10After C-section, my menses has cleared by the end of 1 week. I have been drinking all the herbal soups boiled by my Confinement Nanny (CN). All the herbal was bought by myself for confinement period. After 1st week, my menses came again off and on and sometimes have headaches. I've told my CN and she said I should stop drinking herbal soup and she boil other non-herbal soup. I've tried and my menses reduced. After observing that it has reduced for 2 days, my CN boiled herbal soup again. My menses came again with mild headache. I would like to check whether the mummies here do you all drink non-herbal soup and herbal soup on daily basis or only herbal soup daily? If drink herbal soup daily, do you all have the same symptoms and is it normal?

- 2020-02-11Hi mummies and daddies, looking for some inspiration for Chinese names. Hubby and I want to name our little one Genevieve or Meredith if she’s a girl, and Alexander or Cameron if he’s a boy. We want a Chinese name (2 words excluding surname) that will sound similar to his/her English name. Like how “Eileen” sounds like a Chinese name “Yi-ling”. We are a little stumped because the names we chose are more than 2 syllables so it’s quite hard to translate. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

- 2020-02-11Am due late April early May and I've registered my interest in a number of CC in my area for my 18 month old. I'm not confident I can look after newborn and my toddler on my own. Parents are quite elderly, I am not comfortable getting a helper and confinement nannies are expensive as I'm now a SAHM (bad job change experience plus ridiculous medical officer who refused to certify me fit when I'm just changing company but not industry) and we are watching our finances very closely.
How long before a cc will call back with vacancy? I checked the ECDA site and the ones near my place claims there's vacancy within the year. Have called them but they claim they're full or will let me know closer to my intended registration date (which is March).
Still no answer. Have been calling them every month. I started the interest process since last year October.
- 2020-02-11In terms of cost, service, confinement food etc.....
- 2020-02-11My one month old baby has been off swaddle since one week plus old because we found that he always manage to move himself out of swaddle and doesn’t seems to like swaddle. Recently we heard some advice that we should swandle him so that he can sleep better through the night. (Which indeed he wakes up 2-3 hours to feed... @_@). After off swaddle for so Long I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to try swaddling him again. At the same time, I’m also not sure if we made the right decision to off swaddle so early in his birth. Anyone has advice or experience to share?

- 2020-02-12Hi all. Need a little advice / verification here from those who had blood in their expressed milk.
I have recently had expressed milk that had tinge of pink, which i supposed is caused by blood. I stored the express milk in fridge as usually and when I was about to use it for feed, i realised that the blood becomes sediments as per image enclosed.
Is this normal? I kindof wonder if its really blood.
And do you filter that before feed?

- 2020-02-14I visited the LC from Thomsom PCC and they taught me express 15 mins + hand massage to release milk ducts x 3 cycle.
Previously I had engorgement so they helped me to clear the block ducts. I also had sore nipple due to prolonged expression (30min cause spectra 9+).
At home, I use spectra 9+ with 15 min cycle x3. However I dont feel that the milk has fully been empty from my breast. Should I continue more cycles or is it better to remain at 3 cycle?
(At PCC they used medela hospital grade pump and able to pump 50ml in 1 cycle but with spectra 9+ I could only extract 30ml in 3 cycle) TIA

- 2020-02-15Right from the beginning, my MIL said that she don’t want to take care of my baby. Reason is that she was tired taking care of my SIL’s kid and she don’t want to lose her freedom/wants to go for holidays. She even told me and my hubby to have only 1 kid cos it’s a lot of hard work taking care of a baby/kid.
Now that my maternity leave is ending and I have already looked for an infant care centre and put a deposit, my MIL suddenly said that she wants to take care of my baby until he turns 18 months then put in childcare. Should I take up her offer or still stick to infant care?
TBH I am worried that my baby will fall sick often in infant care. He is also very active. But I am worried that my MIL will change her mind again. She is also taking care of my SIL’s kid (He falls sick often too.) Confused mummy here. What should I do?

- 2020-02-15Since day 1 , I had low milk supply. 1month PP, I managed to give my girl 90ml EBM for about a week, feeding her (about) 2hrs apart. However 3days ago, my supply suddenly dropped to 50-60ml till today. Had been taking fenugreek supplements too but not helping much. Not sure what happen or causes my milk supply to drop. Any mummies encounter the same problem before? I am trying my best to drink more water & soup, eat papaya... Trying my best to catch up on sleep though abit challenging....

- 2020-02-15Anyone here is dealing or dealt with third hand smoke issue coming from own parents?
My parents are helping me with my newborn during confinement and also when I’m going back to work. My dad is a heavy smoker and loves to smell my newborn head and kiss his mittens and I am very concerned of the residual smoke on him would stained on my newborn. However it is very difficult to talk to my dad about this as he is a very dominant man and me and my siblings all grew up healthy under this environment - so he might not understand the concern of third hand smoke and may feel offended. So I turned to my mom hoping she could help me to convince my dad to stay away from my newborn until the smoke residual subside, but it is disappointing that she don’t see it a concern as well.
Today I use another approach to tell him not to kiss newborn’s mittens because he has the habit of putting it in his mouth and that is quite unhygienic considering there is a virus outbreak now - but my dad didn’t give me any response.
Aside from that, my parents always think I am a hygiene and control freak so making me extra difficult to talk and convince them to be aware of third hand smoke. I can say but they can don’t listen. And worse is I still need their help to take care of my baby....
So comes my question....has anyone encounter situation like this whereby your newborn is in contact with third hand smoke all the time but turn out to be fine?
- 2020-02-15I am 2 mths preggy and is it normal to have pain on the upper left side butt area. Sometimes I felt the pain if I move and I can't barely walk properly. I lay down on my bed I don't feel it and once I want to get up from my bed I felt the pain. Does any of mummies out there feel it the same?

- 2020-02-158 weeks pregnant, struggle with back pain and neck pain. Wonder whether I can apply anything to make me more comfortable?
- 2020-02-15Went for an ultrascan at 17 weeks and the gynae says the baby is healthy and we may be expecting a girl. I'm more than a little disappointed because I've been dreaming of having a little boy and this is honestly not what I'm expecting. Having growing up with two nieces and two nephews since they were babies, I have an overwhelming preference for boys. And I just can't help feeling disappointed that I'm now carrying a girl. My husband thinks it's silly and I should be glad that the baby is healthy and well. But I'm trying hard to come to terms with it. Somehow still holding on to hope that the baby will turn out to be a boy at the next ultrascan or even at the delivery room. Has anyone experienced gender Disappointment? How did u handle it?

- 2020-02-15how did you introduce baby to your dog/cat?
- 2020-02-15My 8 week old baby has been waking up just after midnight everyday for the past two weeks or so. Sometimes she wakes up screaming. Sometimes she’s mellow so I’m able to change her diaper and feed her but eventually she’ll start her crying and screaming as usual. It’s so hard to put her back to sleep after she’s calmed down. She’ll stay awake for 3-4 hours before finally sleeping for 3 hours straight. I can’t figure out what the problem is. I’m worried she’s not getting enough sleep.
- 2020-02-15Dear Parents,
What platform(s) did you go through to find your child’s home tutor? Do share your experiences, be it a successful match or a terrible hire!
Here are some of my stories, from a tutor’s point of view:
1) From Forum Posts: My very first client came from a forum post on KiasuParents — a young mother looking for a home tutor for both her boys. Though I was inexperienced and fresh out of Junior College, she took a bet on me, hiring me for the next 6 years to come. My first students later made it as top scorers in their school cohort, but the As on their result slips were not the only things I got from the journey. I'd obtained friendships for life and a profession I’m passionate about :)
2) Tuition Coordinating Services: There is no lack of tuition agencies in Singapore but in my experience, it can be a hit-or-miss for both parents and tutors alike. Commitment tends to be a common problem as I’ve had many last minute cancellations and even late payment issues. However, things can go wrong on the agency’s side as well. Third-party coordinators filtering tutor applicants may not have performed due diligence before matching. This may be especially true in a commission-based industry.
3) Direct Referrals: The first time I got referrals? It was surreal. All of a sudden, I went from teaching one kid to being the home tutor of 3 families from the same HDB block. Word of mouth (especially from mothers!) can be truly powerful. While it is rewarding for the referred tutor, parents stand to benefit as well — they get a more credible tutor, with past record of being committed and responsible. Scheduling issues decrease as lessons in the area can be held consecutively (or even simultaneously). It is a win-win situation.
That said, the above are my opinions based on personal encounters. Feel free to share your thoughts about the private tutoring sector. I’d love to hear from the community here:)
