- 2020-05-18Basically I've been trying to conceive for nearly a year. I've had regular 28 to 32 days cycle for years until I started TTC. Afterwhich my cycle went haywire. I've missed my AF in Jan. Afterwhich it was normal in Feb and March. In April I have not got my AF till now. There is no sign of my AF coming. I don't think I'm pregnant as I've taken over 20 HPT and not even one with a faint line.
So, just for curiosity sake I took an OPK yesterday. It was a dark line but not dark enough to be considered a positive. I also took a clearblue digital and it was a blank circle. Today, I took a HPT in the morning but it was a clear negative. In the afternoon I took an OPK and I got a flashing smiley. Could I be ovulating even though I have missed a period for nearly a month plus?
Please help by sharing your experiences! This TTC journey is driving me nuts! I've already Googled and read all the forums but nothing that explains about ovulating even though there is missed periods!

- 2020-05-18Hi, I'm 33 weeks pregnant. I've been having these sharp pains on my pelvic/lower abdomen area. The pain varies on different day different timings of the day and I have been fasting too. The first day it happened after I break my fast and lasted for a few hours. The second day it came with stomachache that made me want to pass motion. The following day I didn't fast and there wasn't any pain. The next day the pain came around 3 pm and lasted almost until night time. It comes and go throughout but when it came it lasted for hours.
Should I inform my doctor about this or should I just monitor? I don't think it's braxton hicks since it doesn't go away. I'm not sure if it's contractions because it doesn't seem to be like it. What should I do?
Currently having the pain and keep passing gas and feel like wanting to pass motion.

- 2020-05-19Mommies which brand of deodorant is safe to use when pregnant?
- 2020-05-19Hi, I’m in my 3rd trimester (29w3d) and I have already gained almost 15kg... my gynae says she’s not concern about it and I can afford to gain more because I’m considered petite in size (1.57m and 51.5kg before pregnancy). But I can’t help but to feel anxious about the excessive weight gain. Esp when people around me are commenting on my pregnant size... is 15kg at 29weeks really normal? Recently got tested negative for GD and my baby is almost 1.6kg at the moment.

- 2020-05-19Hi Mummies. Just wondering if you ever had doubts on the dates of ur pregnancy? I’m in a LDR, so the window period for pregnancy is significantly narrowed down to a specific date when I have intercourse with my hubby. Initially, dr said i’m 10wks. But seems like the pregnancy term moved agn? Its now 11wks? I understand dates are calculated based on size of fetus, etc.
But is there a possibility for the baby to grow faster than its supposed to during first trimester? Or should i challenge my dr in terms of pregnancy duedate? The thing is, i haven’t had much of appetite until much recently, but my overall weight seems to have come down by 1kg+.
So we are really confused as to whether the pregnancy dates are correct. Should i be concern? Coz my dr told me i can start taking multivitamins, etc and stop folic acid by wk12. If the dates not accurate, will this have an impact to the baby?

- 2020-05-20Every once in a while, walk in the nature, feel the fresh air and it’s a good way to have fun “offline”
.
.
.
These days, digital devices are unavoidable for my kids and as much as I want my kids to stay offline but I have to be flexible & open minded in their learning especially during this circuit breaker period, my kids have to depend more on digital devices to catch up with their study & school curriculum. The best thing I can do as a parent parenting my kids in the digital age is to have a good balance between going online & going offline. When it’s time to go online with their digital devices, I will make sure my kids have their screen time controlled and after they are done with their home based learning, they will take a walk through nearest park or reservoir because I truly believe being in nature reduces stress and improves positive feeling. Engaging with nature is a way to limit children’s exposure to screens and possibly a way to improve creativity too!
.
.
Thanks to the tips I read from Media Literacy Council bit.ly/CliqueClickGuide on how to regulate screen time back to normalcy and how to have fun offline activities, I’m confident I can teach my kids to set boundaries on their own screen time use. My parenting way to take a break from digital technology is engaging with nature and how about you? I would love to hear more!

- 2020-05-21Hi mummies!! Although the circuit breaker is making me stressful with some things that i couldn't purchase physically (i prefer physical shopping compared to online as i know what's my money worth and besides, it's better to shop without having doubts?) - i can't wait for my 1st born to pop out next month.
EDD is 26 June and hopefully he comes out on that day hahaha! A few thoughts/questions have been running through my mind and perhaps some mummies can share with me your experience and tips ?
Questions :
1) I'm currently waiting for my next checkup at 36 weeks, subsequently after that checkup, how frequent will the doctor see me?
2) what do they check for during checkups after 36 weeks?
3) what is the prime week for baby to pop out?(isit according to EDD or baby might pop out early/late?)
4) what does contraction feels like??(mild period cramps or those terrible you can't get out of bed cramps?)
5) what are your experiences giving birth at KKH as a subsidised patient? How are the services rendered to you? (I'd have chosen private but since i found out i was pregnant at about 5 months, i decided to go with sub as pregnancy was totally unexpected?)
6) any tips that i should take note of? Like confinement and all(for malays) , foods/drink i should avoid
7) personally, my emotions have always been like a rollercoaster ride even before being preg. I get annoyed at loud noises/people talking really fast and staying with my fiance doesn't help it cause his mother is a really loud person. How do i overcome this?(we live in a 2 room rental btw)
Any tips/advises are highly appreciated! Thank you for taking time to read this post ?

- 2020-05-21Hihi. Just curious if anyone has same issue as me and how you go about solving it. During this circuit breaker, I need to work from home and take care of my little one which is 7mth old (his nap time is around 30min only?) . So I am living with my in law (thanks goodness) so they do help to take care of my little one especially my MIL. All of us work from home, but me and my MIL work are more flexible (as long as we got our work done, at times have meetings). I feel abit unfair as my husband keeps saying he has work to do and he didn't really help to take care of the baby. I means we all work from home too and we have work to do, not only him. He ends work at 730pm then he has dinner. After which baby already went to sleep or going to. So he only did one last feed before 12am. He does help take care awhile here and there when he has a break though but I thought he should give more time to take care of baby so me and my MIL can do our work too. He also reluctant to bath the baby, change diaper, change her clothes. Not only I need to take care of her, I need to pump, do midnight duty, and rushing work (haven't done much for the past 2months!!!) too. Sounds like I am ranting a lot but why do I feel so unfair????

- 2020-05-22Hello there, first time mother here. Hoping that leaving my story here will ease a burden off my shoulders.
Breastfeeding came relatively easy to me. Baby was latching properly, I had a good milk supply and I was highly motivated. The harder parts came from my LO rejecting my breast sometimes or a really bad letdown which ultimately covered my room floor with milk droplets and constantly having to pump out to prevent my clothes from getting wet. (Which is not that bad tbh)
I was 21 days postpartum when I had my first mastitis. It was the CB period and Dr. Google had already told me that I had mastitis. I was afraid to get a fever and my hubby had just returned to work. I was texting him to let him know that I wasn't feeling well. My baby is exclusively breastfed and we didn't even buy any formula because of my milk supply. My hubby was irritated thinking I was seeking attention from him. (Him finally working while I had to take care of baby by myself). I grew agitated explaining to him that I had mastitis. I was desperately feeding from the affected breast and doing a lot of got compress. I finally had a high fever of 39deg the next day and my hubby had to persuade me to go to a GP ( I wanted to see my gynae instead but it was a Friday night so the next available time was Tuesday). GP advised me to take antibiotics and pump and dump. Eventually. I lost about 2L plus worth of breastmilk as he said the drug in my system will affect my baby. I saw a LC the following week to clear up any clogged ducts and felt ultimately better.
Fast forward to a little over a month post partum and I had a second episode of mastitis. By now I had seen my gynae for my 1 mth pp check and mentioned that I might be having mastitis based on early symptoms. He checked and told me that it wasn't mastitis yet and prescribed me antibiotics still and another drug to constrict the milk ducts. After being diagnosed mastitis the second time by a GP, I sought advice from my gynae again and said the pain was getting worse despite the fever going away. He then prescribed me a stronger dose which actually became worse.
It was a Saturday and I had developed an abcess on my areola. It was big, red and burning! My gynae advised me to see a breast surgeon to cut the abcess immediately. I showered, did a last minute effort to express out in the shower (painfully) and fed my LO with the affected breast.
Guess what, there were no breast surgeons available after noon on a Saturday (govt or private) . None. My hubby asked me to tahan till Monday. By now I was already sweating from the pain and managed to find one (a plastic surgeon who was able to do the procedure on that very day). I was so relieved. I rushed down to his clinic scared I might be late and did a consult. He told me that he was able to do an incision and debridement to clean the affected tissue inside and fit a vacuum machine over to suck out any blood and pus for a faster recovery. My pain level at this point was at a level 9/10. And I was very sensitive to any small touches much less wearing clothes at this point.
I still remember my hubby had to pay 1.6k and he gave me the angry look as if I had financially bankrupt him at this point. (we were saving for renovation and despite me putting in the same amount as him every month). My hubby can't really take stress and usually vents at me. Sometimes, I try to make things better , but usually I argue back and we won't discuss the issue further. That day, I was hungry , tired , mentally and physically exhausted. So I just kept quiet while they put me in a wheelchair to get to the hospital.
I still vaguely rmb my surgeon showing me the video where he made the first incision. (I was still high on GA) The amount of blood, pus and milk just gushed out everywhere. He told me that I had a 8x6x10cm cavitity in my breast now. Adding it was the size of an orange. It was pretty overwhelming. He told me that a bigger decision was whether I wanted to continue breastfeeding or not. And I chose not to, afraid that I might get mastitis again or prolonging my recovery. At 5 weeks , after taking the drug to stop lactation, my menses came in. My heart ached as the realisation of not being able to bf my baby dawned on me .
My baby had to be cared for by my sister and her family during my recovery as my hubby was an essential worker. I was warded for a day and after which my hubby picked me up first, then our baby. I had to carry the vacuum machine everywhere I went. I was still recovering from surgery so I can't pick up my baby. And it broke my heart to a million pieces. When he cried all I can do was to wake up my hubby to defrost my breast milk which I was pumping so hard for his infantcare in a month's time.
Pretty soon I was stubbornly trying to push myself to do things as my hubby had to return back to work. The worse part during this time was on the unaffected breast, I was still having a lot of letdown. And despite having my menses , I was still lactating. I had to take the drug a second time together with many cabbage leaves therapy to eventually stop it.
I had to go to my surgeon's clinic twice for the changing of dressing and I saw my nipple being stuck on the sponge . It was being ripped when they tried to take the sponge out. I was inconsolable. I broke down and wailed. I asked God, why me? Why did I have to go through this? Why must I have this when other women have beautiful stories? The nurses had to rub my back and hold me together to help me through the lowest point of my life. My hubby walked out of the clinic. And I know he didn't want me to see him crying as well. Deep down he really couldn't see me hurt. I'm not a soft hearted person or someone who cries easily. But this entire period of my life just humbled me in the worst way possible.
Going back to the hospital again to stitch up the cavity, I saw many 'breastfeeding friendly hospital policy' poster. And I teared up again in the lift, holding my vacuum machine. I bawled my eyes out again seeing an informal video on breastfeeding on the TV while waiting for my day op. The nurse came in to do a 'admission interview' and casually asked if I was still breastfeeding , I said no. And she asked how old my baby was. I told her that my LO was only 7weeks and she empathetically said, 'ohhh poor thing' with tears in my eyes I said that I wasn't blessed with a longer breastfeeding journey.
Now while recovering from the entire nightmare of my life, I am silently crying. Silently wishing why I couldn't have provided my baby with my milk for a bit longer.
Thank you for reading this far. Thank you for sharing my pain.
- 2020-05-22what do you think or would do if a baby has Microtia?
- 2020-05-22Anyone facing the same issue? I've been very worried cos I realised my baby's hc (head circumference) is measuring on the higher side at 70th percentile but the femur is on the lower side at 10th percentile. However my gynae doesn't seem to be worried at all. I was just told to come back for a re scan at 33 weeks. Should I be concerned?
(previously, my 1st child also had a short femur measuring less than 5th percentile, but I wasn't that concerned then as there doesn't seem to be a high difference in percentile between the hc and femur length)

- 2020-05-23Hi mummies,
Due to premie baby’s inability to suckle and latch properly and my low milk supply, i am Doing mixed feeding. Currently only 2 weeks into this and Am already on the verge of giving up as it can be really tiring. wondering if anyone can share their experience if any with purely formula fed infants? Do babies who are purely formula fed grow up to be less strong and intelligent?
As much as I hope my milk supply and baby’s latching can be up to mark, it is really a drain on my energy so hope to hear some views!
TIA!

- 2020-05-23Hi Momies,
I am a new mom , delivered baby 10 days back. They gave me tablets for milk production without checking my milk supply on day 1 and on day 2 they realised there is engorgement and big lumps in both breast.
Now because of that i could not teach latching to my baby and he is on bottle feed.
Its been 10 days , doing hot compression, massage, breast pumping and sometimes manual extraction with hands but still feel some big lumps are there. My whole day is gng into this process and not getting time to make bond with baby. Now he is not latching, may be due to short nipple or hard breast.
I am very much tired and frustrated , please help.

- 2020-05-23My baby is already showing interest in food and tried using a puree spoon to feed her milk and she can eat with spoon comfortably and learnt quite quickly after the 1st attempt.
Her head can lift up straight which we can carry her upright. She constantly wanted to be seated upright otherwise she will cry angrily (still kind of wobbly and unable to sit up without assistance).
She's only 4 months now. Advisable to try feed a little cereal to test it out?
