Cleaning my baby's ear

My baby girl is 1 year and 1 month and I tried to clean her ear canal because I saw a ear wax and it's irritating her and she kept on itching her ears. I was wondering when I tried to remove the earwax on my first try she cried and when she is itching her ear she is crying. Should I go to her pedia?
